If you want to get the most out of your VETtrak system and its add-ons, you need the VETtrak API.
The API allows the VETtrak to be linked with other systems and products. Bridging connections to different systems enables data to be transferred between them. The API can be accessed by any software that can talk to a web service, allowing for a broad range of potential implementations.
What Is An API?
An Application Programming Interface is a software intermediary that allows two applications to talk to each other.
APIs allow people to create applications that interface with a system, or to create new applications/UIs on top of existing systems. The VETtrak API will connect VETtrak to your web application to perform actions by retrieving relevant data from the VETtrak database.
The API is a ‘back end’ service: it offers a set of functions that communicate with the VETtrak database, streamlining efficiency for your company. This occurs via a dynamic link library (dll) running on a Windows-based IIS web server.
The three main functions of the API:
Interfacing with online enrolment systems.
Connecting with portals that allow various parties to view training information online.
Bridging communication with learning management systems.
The VETtrak API requires a web server running Windows Server 2008 R2/2012/2012 R2/2016 (recommended), or Windows 7/8/8.1/10 with the IIS web server feature and ASP.NET 3.5 enabled.
*Customers using non-VETtrak add-ons and integrations may incur an extra cost for use of VETtrak’s API.
